Ballet - Our ballet classes help dancers learn the fundamentals of classical ballet technique. Each class focuses on proper posture, body positions, and alignment while also building on ballet vocabulary. Each class will focus on body posture, placement, flexibility, and strength. Each class begins with barre and centre work, followed by exercises across the floor and reverence. Students learn performance skills and basic music fundamentals while cultivating self-confidence and presence.
Lyrical - Lyrical dance combines ballet, modern dance and jazz resulting in an emotionally expressive dance form. This
Jazz - This high energy class takes the technique of ballet and puts it into a fast and fun paced movement vocabulary. Students will learn a variety of movements that will work on body isolations and coordination as well as strength and flexibility. Jazz dance is a classification shared by a broad range of dance styles. Before the 1950s, jazz dance referred to dance styles that originated from African American vernacular dance. In the 1950s, a new genre of jazz dance—modern jazz dance—emerged, with roots in Caribbean traditional dance. Every individual style of jazz dance has roots traceable to one of these two distinct origins.
Hip Hop - A loose jazz form sometimes referred to as funk, that is often seen in music videos and in dance clubs. This is a high energy, rhythmic form of dance focusing on body isolations and is the latest form of physical expression in today’s pop culture.Hip-Hop dance classes can be found under many names – Break Dance, Street Dance, Urban Dance, Locking, Popping, and smooth Hip Hop.
Tap - This fun and challenging form of dance promotes a combination of rhythm, timing and coordination. Students develop musicality through various barre, center and cross-floor exercises and routines. We focus on proper techniques, clear taps and appropriate speed.
Clogging - The American form of clogging is a truly unique dance form that began in the Appalachian Mountains and now enjoys widespread popularity throughout the United States and around the world. Clogging is a dance that is done in time with the music - to the downbeat usually with the heel keeping rhythm. Cloggers wear shoes with jingle taps. In this fast paced, step dance class, we focus on proper techniques, clear sounds and appropriate speed.
Irish - Irish dance is a type of traditional dance form that originated in Ireland. We focus on Irish Stepdance which was popularized by the famous "Riverdance" show. Irish Stepdance is known for its rapid leg movements and stationary body and arms. This fast paced class focuses on proper techniques, clear sounds and appropriate speed.
Boys Classes - While we encourage boys to join any of our classes, we have created specially designed classes for boys only. Hip Hop and Acro for boys will focus on dance steps that boys will enjoy performing. We also focus on strength building and proper technique. Let's join the ranks of the most famous male dancers we have known.
Preschool - Our Preschool classes are designed for your little princess!! These classes introduce a structured environment while allowing children to recognize their own individuality and body mobility. Focus is on coordination and rhythm which is introduced in creative and imaginative ways. Keeping students entertained while learning beginning dance skills will help them to acquire a lifelong love for dance. Each dancer will learn basic ballet and tap skills in addition to continued practice of gross motor skills.
